used on damp hair they usually do. not on wet hair (all the water will dilute the product)
most of them are heat activated which means if you put it on and don't blow dry COMPLETELY it won't work.
you also must pull the hair straight while blow drying or it will not be straight when dry. put big round brush under the hair to be dried, pull straight while drying it.

Some do and some dont...I also have thick course hair and I have found Garnier Fructis Sleek and Shing Smoothing Serum excellent....especially when the weather is humid or wet.

Yes they do, just make sure they are designed for your hair type, and don't over-apply the product before blow-drying your hair, or you'll end up looking greasy.

If you really want straight hair try a straightening perm you just comb them through a little at a time it would probably take two maybe three depending on how long your hair is. It really works.
