I dont have curly hair, it is more thick, puffy and wavy... should I get a straight perm?

would a straight perm work on my hair? I just want nice looking, manageable hair... I was looking into Japanese Straightening, also known as Thermal Reconditioning but I cant seem to find anywhere that does it in my area... what are my options? Thanks

I think straitening would be better not so much the perm.Hope this helps. Good luck!

Yeah, I have hair just like you. I got it Japanese straightened and it looks great! You should do it too!

Have you looked into getting a flat iron? With the right hair products, you could probably use that and give it a sleeker look for lower cost.

Also - check with your hair stylist - they should be able to cut your hair in a way to thin it out a little bit. If they are any good, they'll find a way to help you manage your hair without having to put chemicals on it all the time.

If your hair isn't curly why get a straightener? If you do it will be straight, "thick and puffy".

your hair will never stay straight forever. even if you get a perm as soon as you wash it it will go wavy again. go to a beauty supply stop and by anti-frizz and ION heat protection spray and just flat iron your hair. youll save money and and reduce the chance of permenantly damaging your hair.

No, they are very expensive and grow out as fast as your hair grows. So it would only look good for a couple of months and then you'd have to do it again (more money and damage to your hair). I have a Sedu Straightener and it really works. They are expensive but I think cheaper than getting your hair straightened 1 time and you can use it for a lot longer.

don not do a straight perm, if you don't pay attention to it you could end up with worse hair. Use a fat iron, or just braid it, with a flat iron, you can have different styles everytime you want. I have heard that the chinese thing isn't such a good thing, it can really damage your hair

i think a perm would just add even more poofiness...try going the "blow out way" magazines like 17 and cosmogirl usually have good instructions on how to do it...pretty much

1. put in smoothing serum when its wet (i like john frieda products best)

2. depending on how long your hair is, clip the top half up

3. get a round brush and blow dry the bottom layer until its dry and straight.

4. clip the bottom layer out of the way and repeat with the top layer.

then run a curling iron or a flat iron to smooth it out some more. it sounds like a lot, but i have hair past my shoulders and after a few practice runs i can do it in 15 minutes or less.
